Outdoor Advertisement permissions in the UK hold paramount importance and demand serious consideration from businesses seeking to promote their ventures effectively. These permissions are essential to ensure compliance with advertising regulations, maintaining the aesthetic integrity of the surroundings, and upholding the community's interests.

Failure to obtain proper advertisement permission can lead to enforcement action, fines, or reputational damage. Navigating this complex aspect of planning requires expert knowledge of advertising laws and planning regulations.

Do You Have Permission?

In the realm of UK Advertisement and planning, it's crucial to understand that Outdoor Advertisements typically require consent unless they are not visible from public areas or are situated within a building. This consent can manifest in two forms:

  1. express consent, which entails seeking approval from the Local Planning Authority when advertisement consent is deemed necessary,

  2. deemed consent, which applies when such consent is not required. Deemed consent usually pertains very small, non-illuminated outdoor advertisements, though exceptions may exist.

Case Study

There is a project we have been involved in for many years at a site in Sheffield, having successfully secured consent on appeal in its initial stages. Recently, our task was to obtain advertisement consent for our client, involving the transformation of an existing structure that once accommodated a backlit 96 sheet into a portrait-style digital display. Our extensive knowledge of the site and its historical context proved crucial, as well as our understanding of the area's evolution over time. With this valuable insight, we presented a compelling case to the council, demonstrating that the proposed display format would not significantly impact visual amenity and highway safety. As a result of our well-grounded approach, we achieved advertisement consent without the need for further appeal. Our in-depth expertise and strategic approach played a pivotal role in securing a favourable outcome for our client, marking yet another successful chapter in this long-standing Sheffield project.
